CapCut
Edit AI clips into a finished video in CapCut, add free captions, and know who can use Seedance 2.5 inside it.
CapCut is the free editor most hobbyists use to cut AI clips into a short. The free tier exports 1080p and includes auto captions, which covers most social videos. It is also a second home for Seedance 2.5, but only for some subscribers in some regions.
What you get
| Part | Free tier | Paid |
|---|---|---|
| Editor (desktop, web, mobile) | Full editor, 1080p export | Pro effects without watermark |
| Auto captions | Included | Included |
| Seedance 2.5 video generation | No | Rolling out to subscribers, see below |
CapCut is the faster choice for same day social clips. For longer projects that need color, audio and delivery control, sources point to DaVinci Resolve (free) instead. See Editing.

Seedance 2.5 in CapCut
- CapCut announced Seedance 2.5 on 31 July 2026, rolling out to subscriber accounts, users over 16, in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America. The US is not on the list.
- Vietnam is in Asia, and CapCut Vietnam posted about the launch the same day. Whether your account has it depends on the rollout.
- Free accounts do not get it. If you only want Seedance, Dreamina has a free daily allowance and clearer plan prices.
- CapCut outputs carry invisible watermarks, C2PA Content Credentials and visible AI labels.
Which plan to buy
- Stay on the free tier for editing. 1080p export and auto captions are free.
- Pay only for Pro effects or Seedance access you will use every week. Check that Seedance shows in your account after the first payment, since access depends on the rollout.
- Wait for a sale if you plan to buy anyway; a desktop sale is announced for 20 to 30 Oct 2026.
Your first edit
Import your clips in order
Start a 9:16 project for Shorts, Reels or TikTok, or 16:9 for YouTube. Drop the clips on the timeline in shot list order.
Trim hard
Cut each generated clip to its best 2 to 3 seconds. Trim the first few frames, which are often soft. Put the strongest image in the first 1 to 3 seconds.
Add sound
Mute native audio you do not want, then add voice, music and sound effects. See Audio tools.
Generate auto captions
Run auto captions, fix the words by hand, and make them about 7 to 10 percent of the frame height in a bold sans serif font.
Export
1080x1920, 30 fps (60 for fast action), H.264 MP4 with AAC audio. That is enough for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
Settings worth changing
- Caption safe zone. On a 1080x1920 frame, keep text out of the top 240 px, the bottom 660 px and 120 px on each side (TikTok in feed ad template). Check on a phone.
- Word by word captions for short form, phrase level captions for tutorials.
- Avoid Pro effects on the free tier. They add a watermark to the export.
Gotchas
Watermark on Pro effects
The free tier is free only while you stay away from Pro effects. Use one and the export carries a watermark.
- Auto renew. Our sources do not cover CapCut renewal terms. Assume a subscription renews until you cancel, and note the date.
- Commercial terms. Current CapCut commercial terms are unclear in our sources. Check them before client work.
- AI labels. Turn on the AI content label when you post realistic AI clips on TikTok, YouTube and Meta.
- Sponsored posts. Almost all CapCut posts on X in this period were campaigns (#CapCutPC). Treat feature claims there as ads.
